In the emerging South-Indian city Bengaluru (9 million inhabitants) traffic has literally come to a standstill. The local government plans a shift in modalities to substantially improve mobility and accessibility. Public transport will be strengthened with a new subway, and cycling will be stimulated and facilitated as a means for individual transport. The federal state of Karnataka has asked Sustainable Solutions to develop an implementation strategy.

For this purpose the Netherlands Bicycle Partnership (BCP) has been formed: a Dutch joint venture between government, university and industry. BCP has handed in an integral proposal for introducing cycling as an alternative to motorised traffic. Sustainable Solutions acts as project leader. Other Indian cities have also expressed an interest in the bicycle as a promising means of transport.
